Care Guide

A Radius wallcovering is made to be lived with for years, often hand-painted or gilded by artisan hand. With a little care suited to the UAE climate, your walls will keep their depth of colour and finish well beyond the first season.

Daily Care

Dust gently with a clean, dry, soft microfibre cloth or a soft-bristle brush, working from top to bottom in the direction of the pattern. For most textile and printed wallcoverings, this alone keeps the surface fresh between deeper cleans.

Cleaning Marks and Light Soiling

For non-metallic, non-hand-painted papers, a barely damp cloth with plain water is usually sufficient. Always test on a hidden corner or offcut first. Never use household cleaning sprays, alcohol-based wipes, ammonia, or abrasive sponges, as these can dull hand-mixed pigments, lift gilding, or strip the protective top coat. Blot, never rub, and let the wall air dry fully before touching it again.

Hand-Painted and Gold-Leaf Finishes

Hand-painted panels and gilded details should never be wiped with liquid of any kind. Dust only, with a soft, dry brush (a make-up or lens brush works well for fine gold-leaf edges). If a hand-painted panel needs deeper attention, contact our atelier. We can advise or arrange a specialist touch-up rather than risk the finish with home cleaning.

Humidity and the UAE Climate

Wallcoverings are sensitive to humidity swings, which are common in the UAE between air-conditioned interiors and humid outdoor air. Keep indoor humidity in a moderate, stable range where possible, and avoid installing wallcoverings in rooms with heavy, unventilated steam. Bathrooms and kitchens need a moisture-resistant substrate and ventilation, which our team can advise on before installation. Sudden humidity changes can cause seams to lift; if you notice a seam separating, avoid pressing it back down yourself and contact us for guidance.

Sunlight Exposure

Direct, prolonged sunlight will fade even the most carefully mixed pigments over time, particularly reds, blues, and hand-gilded gold. Where a wallcovering sits opposite a large window, we recommend UV-filtering window film or sheer curtains to slow fading, and rotating any adjacent artwork or furnishings occasionally so wear is even. Some colour shift over years of exposure is a natural characteristic of pigment and gold leaf, not a defect.

What to Avoid

Abrasive sponges or scouring pads. Alcohol, ammonia, or solvent-based cleaners. Steam cleaners or pressure washing. Adhesive tape, hooks, or picture hangers pressed directly into the surface; always use a wall-appropriate fixing method away from seams and painted details. Prolonged direct sunlight without any UV protection.
